I’ve never really been a Football enthusiast. It’s just a bit too macho and conflict-oriented for my tastes. After reading this NYT article about linebacker Scott Fujita, however, I’ve become a Saints fan. The American sports scene could use more thoughtful, noble players like this one.

Fujita has spoken out before in favor of abortion rights and gay rights. “It’s just me standing up for equal rights,” Fujita said. “It’s not that courageous to have an opinion if you think it’s the right thing and you believe it wholeheartedly.”
I don’t suppose Fujita could be convinced to run for Congress after he retires from football? We need real Statesmen to replace the worthless politicians we’ve got now.
