So I noticed something very, very fishy in my Slashdot.org “Live Bookmark” (Firefox’s RSS-based bookmark system). There is a link in the feed titled “Acer Says Windows 7 To Ship On 23 October.” When you click on the link, you get an error page, whose text uses typical Slashdot.org conspiracy humor: “Nothing for you to see here. A quick search of Google using the query string “Acer Win 7 October 23” pretty much confirms it. You may have no idea how much I and a lot of other techies are looking forward to this release. By all indications, Windows 7 is everything Windows Vista should have been. It is a beautiful operating system, and I fully intend to deploy it on all 100+ Laptops and Workstations we have at the company.
