Angry at the AFA

I grew up in an extremely conservative Christian household. My parents had 6 children (I am the oldest), they did not own a TV because of the evil “Liberal Bias” of the media and demonic cartoons like The Smurfs. We went to Church every Sunday, without fail. We read the Bible together as a family before bed. We listened to James Dobson every day on the local Christian radio station, and we read newsletters from the American Family Association each month, and posted the best ones on the fridge.

I was an intelligent kid – throughout my youth, I felt more at ease with Adult company than with others my age. I read voraciously, and loved science, history and …The Hardy Boys. Maybe that should have been a clue, but I was a late bloomer in any case. By the time I started to understand my own feelings of attraction, I had already had plenty of time to fully comprehend and assimilate James Dobson, Don Wildmon and and my church’s teachings that Gays were evil. Not only were their sex acts sinful, but they lead deeper and deeper into darkness – pedophilia, sadomasochism, and serial murder were not much further down that road.

Obviously I’ve come a long way since then, but let me tell you something – it took years to get here, and it’s still not over. The damage these people did to me and my family is beyond measure.

So when I heard that the AFA has purchased time to run an entire TV special about how evil the Homosexuals are, it really ticked me off (thanks to Joe. My. God. for the heads-up).

The TV Special will reveal the truth about:
* The claim that homosexuals are born that way and cannot change.
* The negative impact on children resulting from schools promoting the gay lifestyle,
* Protected minority status for homosexuals.
* Same-sex marriage, and
* Legislative initiatives like Hate Crime and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

And, it will:
* Attack the major lies of militant gay activists head-on.
* Alert viewers about what’s at stake for the family if they get what they want.
* Present helpful information to stop the radical homosexual political agenda.

Following is part of the text of the letter I submitted via the feedback form of the TV station that AFA has purchased the add time from.

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing you in order to express my deep concern about some paid programming you are planning to run. The program in question is called “Silencing Christians.” Regardless of its seemingly humanitarian title, this programming has very little to do with censorship of religious persons or ideals. This programming is intended to spread lies and disinformation. I and many others in the LGBT community fear that its content will serve only to engender hate and violence against innocent LGBT men, women and children. I am asking you not to run this programming, or if you must, run it in the very early morning hours with the paid “Extenze,” “Herbal Weight Loss Supplement” and other non-scientific, misleading programming with which it has so much in common.

Please consider joining me in writing to this station. The children of Grand Rapids, MI should not be subjected to the same lies and hate that these people fed me and my family. Click Here to leave a message for the station.

//ACTION UPDATE EDIT: The station made an offer to AFA to air the program during it’s lowest viewership daytime slot. The AFA did not respond, and the program was not aired. The station has retracted its offer to air the program at all.
